We make it easy to register for Continuing & Professional Education (CPE) classes. Just click on one of the following choices for step-by-step instructions:

Tuition waivers should be submitted to the UMass Bursar's Office, Attn: CPE, 215 Whitmore Bldg., 181 President's Dr., Amherst, MA 01003 via mail, or in person. Waivers are not accepted online by fax or over the phone. Only one waiver/discount can be used for each class. For more information, click here.

Registrations are processed during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Eastern Time).  If there’s any problem with your registration request, you will be contacted by phone or e-mail.

Information for confirming your registration is available at Registration Confirmation. No registration confirmation will be sent through the mail.

First-time students: You’ll receive information about your UMail (UMass e-mail) and student information system (SPIRE) accounts within a few days of registration. This information will be sent to the e-mail address you provided at registration in two separate emails. You’ll need to activate your UMail account using the NetID and temporary password provided in these emails. Your student number (SPIRE ID) will also be included in the emails. All future communication about your class will be sent to your UMail account. Failure to activate your UMail account will result in a hold being put on your record. This hold will prevent future enrollments in all UMass Amherst classes.

To avoid accidentally blocking messages about your registration: Be sure to add This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Please use your UMail account for all communication with the university, as we will not be able to send to any other email address, even if it is on your registration form.

If you’ve registered for an online class

To access your online class, go to class your class schedule on SPIRE; click on computer-screen icon. Log into your class by using your Net ID and Password (same credentials used to log into SPIRE).
